HEICWatch
Meet HEICWatch
Automatic HEIC to JPEG, right on your Mac
HEICWatch is a tiny Mac app that lives in your menu bar and quietly does one job well: it turns HEIC and HEIF photos into universal JPEGs the moment they appear in the folders you choose.
Point it at Downloads, your Desktop, or anywhere else, and a ready-to-use JPEG appears right next to each original, which is always kept. It starts at login, runs silently, and everything happens on your Mac.
The story
Born from a small, daily frustration
Your iPhone takes gorgeous photos, and it saves them as HEIC. It is a genuinely clever format: smaller files, better quality. The trouble starts the moment you try to use those photos anywhere else.
Upload a HEIC to a job application, a government form, an online shop, or an older web tool, and half the time it simply bounces back as unsupported. So you open the image, export a JPEG, hunt down where it saved, upload that copy instead, and repeat the whole dance with the next photo.
After enough of that, the frustration wins. HEICWatch is the answer: point it at the folders where your photos land, and it quietly saves a JPEG next to every HEIC the moment one appears. No dragging, no exporting, no thinking about formats. Your beautiful originals stay exactly where they are, and a ready to use JPEG is always waiting right beside them.
